It might be hard at first to wrap your head around the attack triangle, but with simple to execute combos and controls, you’ll acclimate to the fray after a few battles.Īdditionally, there are support Pokémon that you can select beforehand in order to assist you at certain times, and synergy bursts, which you can pull off once you fill your synergy gauge by either giving or receiving enough damage. Normal attacks will beat grab attacks, grab attacks will beat counter attacks, and counter attacks will beat normal attacks. There are three types of attacks, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Other than phase shifts, the game also employs a rock-paper-scissors mechanic to differentiate itself from the competition. Different attacks will trigger this phase shift, and it’s up to you to try and outmaneuver your opponent in order to get the upper hand.
